Boat Boat Smart Safety Class
A dynamic one-day program taught by the Harris Chain Sail & Power Squadron & Lake County Sheriffs Office. A "must do" for new boaters and an excellent refresher for experienced boaters. It is State Approved for those 21 and under to receive a Florida State Boater ID card. Will be held on Saturday Sept 13, 2008 at the Leesburg Cultural Arts Building. Located in Venetian Gardens on the corner of Dixie (Hwy 44) and Dozier Circle. The course starts 9 AM. This is a mini-seminar. It covers how to select a location and prepare your boat for a hurricane. The kit includes Student Notes with copies of the slides. Also scheduled is a Seamanship course. This course will begin on TBA . The Seamanship course is a great second class for boaters to take. This course will revisit and build upon some of the concepts taught in the first boating course.

A Piloting course will start June 16th and run every Monday through August 11th. The Piloting course will present techniques for charting a course and will incorporate GPS plotting as well.

An Advanced piloting course will start Monday, Oct 6th and run every Monday through Nov 24th. This course is recommended for those who have passed the piloting course and would like to learn more.
